How to Ship a Motorcycle from New York to California and cost of shipping motorcycle?

  • The first step is to look for a reliable motorcycle shipping company that fits in your budget and caters to your unique needs. Once you’ve done your homework on that, you’ll have to schedule the pick-up and drop-off details to get a quote.
  • Once you get a price that fits in your budget, book the shipment and make payments. Keep in touch with your provider until the day of service to ensure you have all details covered and you’re entirely prepared for the process.
  • Professional motorcycle shippers can take the stress out of shipping a bike because they have the experience and specialized equipment to deliver the shipment.
  • For shorter distances within 500 miles you can expect motorcycle shipping cost to be US $200 – $500. For distance beyond 1000 miles, the cost of motorcycle shipping could be $600 – $1500. Price vary based on what you’re shipping, whether it’s an on-road vehicle or off-road vehicle.

  • Here are few excellent tips by UPS for bike shipping.

Things to consider when choosing to ship a motorcycle to New York, California, New Jersey, Florida, Texas and other states

When Choosing a motorcycle shipping company there are several things you may need to consider such as:

  • Whether you want to ship your bike in open trailer or enclosed.
  • In an open trailer your motorcycle may share a truck with several other vehicles and will be exposed sunlight, dust etc. during transit.
  • An enclosed trailer would keep your bike safe inside the truck or even in its own container.

You must also be aware about the door-to-door service offered by many motorcycle shipping companies in New Jersey, New York, Texas, California, Florida and many other states across USA.

Well, we make it simple for you to understand, what door-to-door motorcycle shipping is?

If you live in a neighborhood with wide open roads where a truck or a trailer can easily move then we pickup your bike from your doorstep and deliver it to the destination. However, if you live on a narrow, crowded, busy street, a dead end, or in a community that places restrictions on the types of trucks that can inhabit it, we may have to meet you at a nearby parking lot to make the exchange.

Motorbike/Motorcycle Shipping Tips

Motorcycle shipping can be a really smooth process if you prepare well in advance and follow the tips mentioned below. Here are some tips to ship motorcycle:
• Research motorcycle shipping companies, getting at least three estimates from three different companies.
• Decide between open and closed shipping. Going more than 500 miles? It’s recommended you go with enclosed shipping which provides much better protection for your motorcycle.
• Wash your bike and give it a thorough once-over to take note of any existing damage before you ship it.

• Take out all personal items and deactivate any alarms that may be on it.
• Kick the tires to make sure they are adequately inflated.
• Put the bike in neutral.• For crate shipping, drain the gas tank and take out the battery.

Here are few excellent tips from UPS for bike shipping.

Before the arrival of your motorcycle carrier, it’s important to do a once-over to protect your motorcycle during the shipping process. Take photos  of your bike from different angles, some close shots too and inspect for any marks or dents that are already there. Then, you can better compare the condition later, and if there is a dispute, you can show the photos to the insurance company. It’s very rare that a bike is damaged during transport, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Make sure that you reach early at the pickup location. The driver will also take the time to look over your motorcycle for any pre-existing damage.

Delivery of your Motorcycle in Texas, California, New Jersey, New York, Florida and any other state in USA

When you reach the delivery location then, take the time to carefully inspect your motorcycle for damage. As mentioned above, you’ll most likely find it has arrived in perfect condition.

Home Appliances Shipping New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, CA, Chicago. Cost to Ship a Washing Machine, Refrigerator

April 18, 2019 by VJSLogistics

We often find it difficult when it comes to shipping a washing machine, dryer or a refrigerator, since these home appliances need special care and no clear idea about the shipping costs. In this post we will cover “How to ship a washing machine, dryer, refrigerator and appliances” and also cost of shipping refrigerator, dryer and washing machine.

When you are looking to move a washing machine, a dryer, refrigerator or any other appliance then you need specialized movers. There are also Small movers that can handle any shipment under 2,000 lb which is the standard minimum for most regular moving companies.

Things to remember before Moving Your Washing Machine and Dryer

Here are the steps you will need to take in order to prepare your washing machine and dryer before the movers arrive for pick-up:

  • Always disconnect both the appliances from the power source.
  • If you have a gas dryer, make sure to remove the gas connection.
  • Remove all hoses from the units and pack them separately.
  • Wind up the cords and secure them with tape to the back of the units. This will keep the cords safely out of the way so they don’t become caught on anything during the move or present a safety hazard.
  • Remove the water supply source for the washing machine and disconnect all the hoses from their faucets.
  • Once you are done with the above steps, it’s time to get started looking for a moving company to ship your appliances.

How to Ship Washing Machine, Dryer and Refrigerator safely?

It’s important to know how to ship appliances properly in order to make sure they reach their destination in the same condition they left. Because appliances have a lot of mechanized parts, knobs, connectors and delicate surfaces, they present challenges on a number of fronts in preparing them to be loaded on a truck. In this article, we’ll provide several tips for appliances in general and specifically for some of the hardest-to-handle items, like refrigerators, laundry machines, and dryers.

Useful tips for shipping appliances such as Washing Machine, Refrigerator, Dryer:

  • Any appliance should be empty before it is for ready for shipping to a new location. Dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc. should be completely cleaned out.
  • Disconnect all hoses, water lines, etc. If you do not know how to disconnect the appliances yourself, then you can call in a plumber or a handyman, especially for a washing machine and refrigerators connected to a water supply line.
  • You must always clean the appliances thoroughly from top to bottom, inside and out.
  • Stainless steel and other surfaces should be protected from abrasion once the appliance has been disconnected and cleaned. There are a number of ways to do this. Flexible propylene foam (in a thickness of 1/16 inches to ¼ inches) has excellent surface protection characteristics and contains no additives that will transfer to the appliance surface. Be careful to secure the foam with a tape that will not transfer adhesive to your appliance surface. A hardware store should have both the foam and appliance-friendly tapes; another option is to look online. There are also masking films and masking papers with appliance-friendly adhesives that will do the job. You will need to make sure you select the right item, however, since there are many product variations designed for very specific applications.
  • Make sure to apply a shipping label to the appliance and to any shipping boxes that displays the complete shipping address of the destination. Apply label protection tape (like clear box sealing tape, only wider) to the label to prevent it from getting scuffed or torn off. Anything can happen when an appliance is being shipped; the more clearly you mark the destination, the more likely it is to arrive on time and in the same condition it left.
  • The LTL  trucking company you select to ship your appliance may suggest that you box or crate the appliance as an option. These are time-consuming tasks and can be expensive, but may be well worth the investment for high-end appliances.

If you’re moving refrigerator to a new location then here are some really useful tips:

  • Some LTL shippers will prefer that you remove shelves and drawers from the refrigerator. To others, it is not important. Check before you prep your fridge, so you don’t have to undo or redo work later. If you do remove shelves and drawers, wrap them carefully in a protective foam or bubble packaging material, and pack them in heavy-duty shipping boxes (carefully marking each box with the contents). Don’t skimp on the shipping box! A dented shelf or a broken drawer can take weeks to replace.
  • Defrost the refrigerator 24-48 hours before you are ready to finish prepping the appliance for shipment.

Lock the refrigerator doors or tape them to secure them.

Dryer is similar to a washer or a washing machine and here are some useful tips to move dryer safely:

  • Hoses and connectors for both dryers and washers should be collected, bagged and placed in a shipping box carefully labeled with the contents — this saves a lot of time reconnecting your appliances when they arrive at their new destination.
  • Place the appliance manual in this shipping box, so everything is in one place during re-installation of the dryer.
  • Here some very useful tips to safely move a washer and a dryer.

Washing Machine is heavy similar to a refrigerator and has many delicate parts, move it safely following the tips below:

  • Disconnect the power and water hookups. This can be done easily by a plumber or a technician if the item is under warranty.
  • Clean the washer and remove any stray items inside.
  • Secure the washer door closed with appliance-friendly tape. Depending on the model, you may want to wrap bubble or foam packaging around the control panel to prevent dings, dents and more serious damage.

How to find the right company for moving appliances in New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, CA, Chicago?

Moving companies vary in prices, services and size and there’s no one-size fits all rule when it comes to shipping a washing machine, dryer or refrigerator.

Appliances are valuable, fragile and awkward to handle, so need to work with a shipping company that knows how to ship appliances and specializes in electronics and appliance transportation.

VJS Logistics has decades of experience moving standard to high-end appliances and can easily overcome challenges such as doorways that are too narrow, driveways that are too steep, refrigerators full of food, etc. If you work with an LTL trucking company that specializes in moving home appliances then they know how to handle and stow your appliance with the proper care.

Another important consideration when selecting a shipping company for moving appliances is that whether the trucking company is familiar with the route your appliance will be taking? Carriers that do a lot of business in your pickup and delivery areas have a lot of other customers with freight that can be combined with your appliance. This means your appliance is likely to be delivered more quickly and more efficiently, which equals a lower price and greater value.

How Much Will it Cost to ship washing machine, dryer or a refrigerator?

There are no fixed costs as far as shipping home appliances from one location to another. Considering the fact that a Washing machine, dryer or a refrigerator are big investments they need special care and packaging while moving. VJS Logistics will be happy to assist you in moving appliances safely from one city to another or with interstate shipping.

Since, washing machine and dryer vary slightly in weight and they typically weigh about 100 to 175 lb each.

Based on the above numbers the cost to ship washing machine and dryer to New Jersey from Ohio would be $450 to $500 range, without including insurance.

It may cost you more if you would like your washing and dryer brought into your home rather than just dropped off at your door.

State Wise Freight Shipping Costs, freight rates by state

February 26, 2019 by VJSLogistics

Freight Shipping Costs vary from state-to-state which becomes pretty much confusing for a normal person, but it is not rocket science to figure out the freight rates by state if you know the basics of how shipping costs are calculated.

freight shipping costs

Let’s try to understand how freight shipping costs are calculated by the shipping companies.

Factors that affect the cost of freight shipping

  • Size of the Package

The size of the package is a key determining factor of your shipping rate. As a general rule, the bigger the package, the more it costs to ship.

  • Weight of the Package

Along with the size of your package, its weight factors heavily into your shipping cost. Heavier packages cost more to ship, so pack strategically; no heavier than necessary, but with plenty of padding and sturdy boxes!

  • Any special handling requirements, such as temperature or shape are also taken into account when freight shipping costs are calculated.

You can also read this wonderful post by Fedex to understand how shipping costs are determined.

You would notice that the freight shipping costs vary significantly based on which state you are shipping to or from. Freight shipping prices do vary by state.

One important thing to remember here is that most carriers are not intrastate, which means that can only ship within a state due to which shipments often begin with one carrier and end up with a different partner carrier that has the licenses to operate across state borders.

You can learn more about the difference between interstate and intrastate carriers.

You don’t have to do the freight shipping costs calculations as our shipping experts will provide you a freight shipping quote within minutes.

Regardless of where you are shipping to or from, this is the easiest way to determine what your shipping costs will be for every single shipment, every single time.

If you frequently ship items across various states, or are considering shipping goods in the near future then have a look at shipping prices breakdown in various states in USA that will help you figure out how freight shipping costs are calculated.

State wise Freight Shipping Prices Breakdown

Freightcenter has provided a very good breakdown of the shipping prices in various states across USA for the shippers below:

Alaska

More shipments travel into (rather than out from) the state of Alaska. Most of the state’s food is imported, and therefore there are several refrigerated shipments that come into the state on a regular basis.

Alaska’s northern climate coupled with the vast and steep terrain present a unique set of considerations that make it important to select a knowledgeable freight partner when shipping to and from the state.

Additionally, the far distance away from the lower 48 states can increase the cost of shipping to Alaska, especially when the destination is a rural area, as the state has a limited number of highways. Because of this, most shipments go by air or sea.

Main hubs include Anchorage (south), Fairbanks (central), Prudhoe Bay (north) and Skagway (southeast).

Alabama

Alabama freight rates typically see an increase during the summer months, when there is an increased demand for trucks to ship agricultural products, such as poultry, corn and cattle.

This state exports slightly more than it imports, with gravel, logs, non-metal mineral products, coal and natural sands being the most-shipped commodities by freight truck. The uncertainty of coal demand will definitely play a role in the future of the state’s freight exports.

Arkansas

Freight rates generally remain consistent throughout the entire year in the state of Arkansas. That being said, shipping to or from rural areas can cause shipping rates to increase.

Arizona

Arizona’s desert climate allows for a long growing season, with produce shipping out of state during a greater part of the year. The state’s freight rates are heavily impacted by the agricultural industry, which can cause rates to increase due to higher demand.

Phoenix and Tuscon are Arizona’s freight activity centers for consumer goods and manufacturing. Over $188 billion of freight shipments come in and out of the state each year, with about 41 percent coming into the state and 21 percent traveling outbound.

California

California has numerous railroads, making it a great state for shipping low-cost intermodal freight. On the other hand, the state’s higher fuel taxes can result in higher fuel costs for LTL shippers.

Colorado

Colorado’s mountainous terrain and seasonal changes can impact freight shipping costs. For example, winter conditions tend to make freight shipping more expensive.

Connecticut

Connecticut generally imports more than it exports, making outbound freight rates more affordable. Why? Because many trucks are looking for another load to carry once their deliveries within the state are completed.

Most freight shipments into the state of Connecticut go by way of truck (94%). Freight plays a significant contribution to this state’s business activity, accounting for $58.1 billion in 2014.

Delaware

Delaware contains a large number of ports and freights, making intermodal transportation a good choice.

Florida

Freight shipping in the Sunshine State tends to be less expensive during the summer months. This is because the state produces a large amount of produce, providing ample opportunities for truck drivers to haul produce back out of the state.

Florida embraces a multimodal transportation system, moving over 770 tons of freight annually. Additionally, the state serves as the primary gateway for shipments to and from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Georgia

Agriculture plays a big role in this state’s freight costs. In general, it’s better to ship freight outside of peach, pecan and peanut growing seasons, all of which typically make trucks harder to come by.

Hawaii

Freight shipping rates to Hawaii tends to be some the most expensive. The state’s distance from the centralized 48 plays a significant role in shipping costs to and from the island.

Additionally, the lack of major highways throughout all of the state’s islands affect costs as well. Truckload rates are calculated based on the distance traveled as well as time spent on the road.

Idaho

This state’s onion and potato seasons play a role in freight shipping costs in Idaho. Additionally, there are many rural areas within the state, which can be more difficult to access. Therefore, proximity to major metro hubs also influences a freight shipment’s price.

Illinois

Illinois is one of the more economical states when it comes to freight shipping. This is due to the amount of industry, high population and the state’s centralized geographical location.

Indiana

Indiana’s freight shipping rates tend to remain consistent year-round. This is because the industry generally remains constant regardless of the season.

Iowa

As a centralized state with generally consistent terrain and climate, Iowa’s shipping rates also tend to remain constant throughout the year.

Kansas

Kansas has a significant amount of hubs and railroads, making it a good option for intermodal freight shipments.

Kentucky

Kentucky contains several large auto assembly plants. Because of this, inbound freight shipments tend to be less expensive than outbound hauls.

Louisiana

The cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans see a significant amount of traffic back and forth. This results in reasonable freight rates within the state of Louisiana.

Maine

Trucks dominate freight shipments in and out of the state of Maine. Currently, outbound shipping rates tend to be less expensive than inbound rates.

According to a recent DOT presentation, the state expects to grow freight shipments by 2-3 percent per year over the next 30 years. This is due to their geographic location as well as capitalization of niche markets, including e-commerce, petroleum and food and beverage.

Maryland

Maryland sees a considerable amount of LTL shipments within the state. Freight rates tend to be consistent and reasonable in this state.

Massachusetts

The Bay State receives a lot of inbound shipments. This helps to decrease outbound rates due to the number of available trucks.

Michigan

Inbound freight shipping rates in Michigan tend to be more affordable than outbound rates. This is due to the automobile and industrial manufacturing industries in the state.

Minnesota

Minnesota lacks several major cities, causing freight rates to be a bit higher in this state than other parts of the country.

Mississippi

Agriculture and produce affect freight rates in Mississippi, making outbound shipments more expensive during summer months. On the other hand, when looking to ship into the state of Mississippi, summer is likely the time to get the best inbound rates.

Missouri

The Show-Me State shows shippers very affordable freight rates year-round, both inbound and outbound. This is due to Missouri’s centralized location within the United States.

Montana

Montana is a very rural state, without a great deal of industrial manufacturing. As a result, shipping costs tend to be higher than average in this state.

Nevada

Las Vegas is the most cost-effective city to ship to and from in the state of Nevada. That being said, outbound freight from the city tends to have slightly better rates than inbound freight.

Shipping to and from areas outside of major cities in Nevada can get pricey due to the rural makeup of the majority of the state.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is home to many roads, railways and ports, making it an affordable state for freight shipping.

Nebraska

Nebraska hosts a significant number of agricultural shipments. This makes freight shipping for both inbound and intra-state shipments reasonably priced.

New Jersey

The Garden State’s shoreline location and bounty of freight carriers make this state a great location for freight shipping. Rates are typically affordable and routes are frequent.

New York

The state of New York imports quite a bit, causing inbound freight rates to be pricey.

North Carolina

North Carolina’s lumber industry causes outbound freight shipments to be more expensive during fall months.

North Dakota

There isn’t a huge demand for freight shipments in this state. As a result, rates tend to be more affordable than national averages.

New Mexico

Spring and summer months tend to be more cost-effective for inbound freight shippers in New Mexico. This is due to the influence of the produce industry.

Ohio

Ohio’s centralized location coupled with its large industrial markets makes this an affordable state for both inbound and outbound freight shipments.

Oregon

This northwestern state generally experiences an increase in freight rates during Christmas tree season. Otherwise, shipping prices tend to remain stable throughout the remainder of the year.

Oklahoma

Oklahoma contains several freight hubs. Because of this, there are a number of both inbound and outbound freight shipments occurring at any given time. As a result, rates in this state are lower across the board.

Pennsylvania

Rural areas, rather than cities, play a role in freight rates. Typically, rates are lower near major cities and more expensive in rural areas.

Rhode Island

While shipping costs in Rhode Island tend to remain steady throughout the year, inbound trucking prices are generally higher than outbound shipment costs.

South Dakota

Rural areas in South Dakota tend to experience higher shipping rates. That being said, the lower capacity and demand can sometimes result in lower rates.

South Carolina

South Carolina’s freight rates are affected by the textile industry. Supply and demand can cause rates to fluctuate. Additionally, the lumber industry can cause outbound rates to increase during the fall season.

Tennessee

This land-locked southern state sees seasonal price changes. Generally, lumber and Christmas tree exports cause freight rates to increase during the fall season. However, the state does have a high amount of intermodal shipments, making shipping by train often a cost-effective choice.

Texas

The Lone Star State is a year-round producer of oil and heavy industry. This makes it a state that generally sees affordable shipping rates year round.

Utah

Shipping costs in Utah tend to be more affordable than national averages. Generally, the state only sees fluctuations in pricing when California-bound shipments spike rates.

Vermont

Vermont houses several international ports and intermodal rail lines. This makes the state an affordable option for both inbound and outbound freight.

Virginia

The state of Virginia has great access to intermodal transportation, often making it the most economical choice for outbound shipments.

Washington

Similar to its neighbor Oregon, Washington’s freight rates are typically consistent throughout the year, with the exception of Christmas tree season, which causes rates to spike.

Wisconsin

The industry that has the most impact on this state’s shipping rates is the paper industry. Generally, shipments leaving the state will see lower rates.

Wyoming

Shipping to and from Wyoming tends to be affordable year round. This is due to the coal and natural gas industries.

West Virginia

The lumber market and rural areas are key factors in freight shipping costs in this state. Shipping to and from the state’s rural areas will often result in higher costs.

Tips to plan car shipping and Cheap Car Transport Options

  • Do some research online about the shipping company’s reputation – Google is your friend when it comes to finding out some basic information about a business or a company. Search for a particular auto shipping company’s reviews on Google. Ask family or friends who have shipped their cars about the companies they hired. Were they happy with the work? Was anything damaged or missing after the car was shipped? This will help you making the right decision.

Once you have shortlisted few auto shipping companies, check their safety records with the local highway patrol, your state’s transportation department or with the federal Department of Transportation.

If the company transports across state lines, they should be registered on the Federal DOT’s safety database, which lists inspections performed and major accidents.

  • Always ask about the transportation vehicle that will ship your car
Depending on the company, you’ll need to choose between shipping your car in a fully enclosed trailer or vehicle, or a an open-air trailer or vehicle, such as a flatbed trailer or truck.  Open transport can be cheaper, but it carries the risk of damage to your vehicle from flying road debris.

  • Check your car’s insurance policy coverage
Call your insurance company and check your coverage to ensure the vehicle will be protected during shipping. This will provide a fallback in case the transport company’s insurance doesn’t cover damage or loss that may occur during shipping.

  • Ask the shipping company if it is insured against damages in case of an accident
Request a copy of the company’s insurance information. Verify that their policy is in effect, current and covers the type of auto transport you’re looking for by calling the insurance company. This will help guarantee your car is covered in the event of an accident or damage.

  • Do not leave any valuables in the car
If the car will eventually return to your possession, remove any valuables that don’thelp prevent any possible theft that may occur during shipping.

  • Take pictures of your car from different angles and save them before shipping
Take photographs of your car and any loose parts before shipping to document their condition. Should an accident or damage occur during the vehicle’s transport, photos will help you get maximum compensation for your insurance claim.

  • Check and fix any maintenance issues that could be a problem for shipping
Leaky fluid lines, tires that don’t keep air pressure and any loose or hanging parts should all be taken care of prior to loading your vehicle for transport. This will help ensure a smooth shipping process.

  • Empty your vehicle’s fuel tank
Most shipping companies require that your vehicle’s gas tank be no more than ¼ full before it’s loaded for shipping. Plan ahead by driving your vehicle before shipping to use excess fuel or drain the tank using a hand pump or siphon.

  • Ask for a copy of the shipping contract from the shipping company
Make sure you thoroughly read and review the terms of the shipping contract before you sign it. There may be hidden clauses or terms for storage fees and other items that you may miss if you don’t read all of the fine print before committing to the deal.

  • Always check the car thoroughly upon delivery
If your car will eventually be shipped back to you or you’re meeting it at its destination, be sure to completely evaluate the vehicle and check for any damages before accepting it.

Factors that affect the price of transporting a vehicle

One of the biggest cost factors is the size of the vehicle or your car. For example If if you want to transport a truck or an SUV, cost of transportation would go up considerably.

Another factor is how much traffic congestion is in the area where someone wants their car shipped. If they are going to a remote area, the price will be more.

Distance and fuel costs also adds up to the car transportation cost, but the size of the vehicle and the transportation route ultimately determines shipping costs.

Bottom Line

When it comes to cheap car transport options, there are several factors that you should always keep in mind such as vehicle safety, distance, insurance coverage and reputation of the vehicle shipping company.

Out of thousands of car transportation companies only few can be trusted and you should do your own research before signing the shipping contract.
